So, the Mazda has been sat in our garden for about 2.5 years. Relatively untouched for the last couple of years.
For a long time, we couldn't bring ourselves to get rid of it, 'what if' we just need a stupid Mazda threaded nut off it, or 'what if' we can sell this mouldy bit of carpet out of it.
To be fair, the Mazda carcass served a couple of purposes while it sat there.
A steady source of income. It's amazing what people buy off them, we managed to make our money back on it's purchase and some - even after we stripped the engine and drive train out of it to use in the Zero.
A haven for wildlife. There's been a stoat living under it for a while and he's been helping keep our insane bunny population down!
It was awkward getting it on the trailer with the trailer being so high and the minidigger being so... well... mini!
Finally managed to shuffle it on with only a few choice words muttered.
One last glimpse at its resting place for the last couple of years or so
And there you have it, dropped off at the scrapyard.
It's important that you dispose of it as scrap metal and not a vehicle if you want to get an age-related plate for the new car. You will need to submit the Mazda's V5 when you register your new car.
After all those years sitting in the garden, we were excited for the massive payout for 1/2 a tonne of scrap steel while scrap prices were high!
£44... Gutted!
