"How can we stop it being hot and loud inside..?"
We have seen a lot of comments from other owners mentioning that it gets very hot inside the footwells and the diff whine can be quite loud and annoying.
We figured it couldn't hurt to have a go at installing some sound and heat insulation.
We went for a roll of 20mm foam backed foil insulation, allegedly to help with both noise and heat. Got it off Amazon from car insulation UK. It seems pretty good to be fair and the whole roll only weighed a kilo or so, so not really adding much extra weight.
It was really easy to cut and with the panels not yet attached
We sort of wedged the pieces in the gaps and then offered up the panels so they got stuck in the right place
We did pretty much everywhere in the end including the firewall. There might need to be a rethink around the drivers pedals as there's not much room for feet!
We did the whole rear bulkhead too. Hopefully that'll help cut down on diff noise.
It may not work, but we decided it was worth a try. Only cost £48 for a 3m roll to do the whole car, so in the grand scheme of things...
UPDATE - since making further progress with the car as well as having had the chance to sit in it, we have realised that the insulation either side of the pedals doesn't leave adequate space for your shoes through the full travel of the pedal so this has since been removed.
