After the stresses of having to adjust the clutch fork, we thought we would tackle something that should be quite straight forward.
Earlier in the build, we'd decided to splash out on the bigger, better aluminium ATR radiator. To go with it, Matt convinced Kathryn a bigger, more efficient fan than the intended 12" Spal would be a good shout.
Enter the 14" Comex suction fan *applause from the crowd*
It wasn't all plain sailing, it took Kathryn about half an hour with a Dremel to make the hole in the fan bracket match the new 14" fan.
We also had to use my little 'vice press break' to put the stiffening bends in the bracket the factory missed.
There's the fan in place. Mounted with some nylon spacers to give us clearance from the chassis.
Some 6mm self adhesive foam for a good seal to the radiator
...and then the radiator mounted neatly on top
We since realised there aren't enough threads showing through the nyloc nuts, so more surgery was required...
"Nurse, pass me the hacksaw"
"Nurse, pass me the drill"
Much better! We also added some bigger 15mm thick spacers for a little extra clearance from the chassis for the fan as well whilst we were at it
