This part of the build is a relatively simple IVA tick box procedure. We already know that we want LED halo headlights with built in indicators as a long term solution but they will not pass IVA... so this is our nose cone saving short term solution.
We already scavenged some indicators that mysteriously fell off someone else's car after IVA (wouldn't it be weird if the same happened to us?!) and we also have some old halogen headlights the correct size that came off Matt's Land Rover.Â
So... whilst most people attach the indicators to the nose cone using IVA-compliant go-go-gadget extendo arms, we don't want to do this as it will leave us with holes in the nose cone. Our solution is to make some brackets that extend the headlight mounts onto which we can then fit the scavenged indicators.
Find some plate
bend it to shape
drill some holes
mount it up
check beam direction
trim headlight bowl bolts
put some nut covers on
check the angles of visibility for IVA (see IVA manual for full details)
fit some sheath over the wiring
tidy wiring with cable ties
fit some IVA trim
fit headlights
